As summer has finally arrived, we're celebrating a new addition to the team! Please join us in welcoming Mattheus Dias, Brighteye's new Head of Finance, based in our London office. Mattheus overseas finance and reporting 🏦 activities across the fund, and supports 💪🏻 our Founders with finance-related matters. Previously, Mattheus worked at Student Finance, a startup at the intersection of edtech and fintech, after having been an analyst at BNP Paribas and an auditor at EY. A Brazilian native 🇧🇷, Mattheus also adds Portuguese 🇵🇹 to the languages spoken by the Brighteye team, Bem-vindo Mattheus.

🆕 Liceo de Farmacia - €500K Pre-Seed
We welcomed Liceo de Farmacia 🇪🇸 to the Brighteye portfolio family, leading their recent €500k Pre-Seed round. Liceo de Farmacia bridges the worlds of technology and the pharmacy industries by offering an online platform 💻 for practical training to improve the patient experience, apply sales techniques in the pharmacy context and improve general pharmacy operations 👩🏻‍⚕️. We are super excited to be along for the ride with Jose Lozano, Javier Baquero Portero, and the Liceo team! 🚀

🔂 Oneday - £5M Series A (Reinvestment)
It is with great pleasure we share the news 📣 of our reinvestment in Oneday, the company reinventing formal entrepreneurship education. The London-based startup just launched its new, accredited MBA following a successful £5M second round of funding that we were part of alongside Ananda Impact Ventures, Outward VC, Flint Capital and Sparkmind.vc. The company has raised a total of £8.25M to date.

🔔 Beekast - Acquisition
Congratulations, Beekast 🇫🇷 on your successful acquisition by saas.group 🙌🏼. It has been exciting to follow and support your dynamic online platform for engaging and collaborative corporate learning from the start, alongside UI Investissement and M CAPITAL. Founded by Yassine CHABLI in 2015, Beekast has reached more than 1 million active users employed by 1000+ corporate clients 🚀. 📺 Ornikar on TV x2
Celebrating their 10-year anniversary, Ornikar’s Co-Founder Benjamin Gaignault made 2 appearances on French TV talking about not just the company’s growth — 40% of driving students in France now use Ornikar - but also the impact they’ve had on the industry overall. The cost of getting your license in France has dropped by 23% since Ornikar launched as the industry as a whole has had to adapt. While Ornikar remains 30% cheaper than the market average for driver’s ed, it is now set to help young drivers save even more via a new car insurance product which uses data gathered during the driver’s education process to reduce premium prices by 2-3x for Ornikar users. We are proud to learn that FundamentalVR was identified as best in class in the global VR surgical simulation and training industry by Frost & Sullivan earning their 2023 Global VR Surgical Simulation and Training Company of the Year Award. “FVR can lower the cost of adoption and deliver a significant return on investment for its customers,” noted the Jury.

👋🏽 EVENTS

🇫🇷 Our Paris-based team are in full swing working VivaTech in the French capital this week, 14-17 June. Make sure you don’t miss the Tools for Transformation: Edtech session tomorrow, Friday, where our Principal David is on the panel, and feel free to reach out to him and Associate Hannes to catch up.

🇬🇧 London Edtech Week is just a few days off, and we are excited to be involved in oh-so-many ways. On Monday 19 June, the very first day, we are hosting a session on fundraising - Inside the Deals: Conversations between Founders and the VCs that backed them. We have invited 3 Brighteye portfolio Founders and some of the investors that have invested in them to have conversations about the process around the fundraising.
